Nebbiolo done two ways. Two different vineyards, both handled the same. This is an very tidy wine from the sandy Heathcote soils.
Wild fermented, 54 days on skins then 16 months in older oak. Stick your nose in the glass and there is plenty going on. Think orange peel, dried fruit, red plums, vibrant violet aromas and dried cherries. Soft in the mouth, it tastes of the red earth which Heathcote is famous for. A little spice gains momentum but the fruit sits on front to mid palate and doesn't flow through as well as I'd like. Good acidity shows vibrancy and points to aging. Some alcohol warmth lingers mind you, and that pegged it back a little - it's up there at 14.6%. Sandy tannins close things out leaving something to muse over.
In all, it's a pretty tidy drop all up and a fabulous comparison sitting beside its sibling from the Malakoff Vineyard.
