A masterful blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet and Merlot, this is an Aussie take on the Super Tuscan. It's a mighty impressive one at that.
Wild fermented and unfiltered, the Sangiovese fruit is sourced from Heathcote while the co-fermented Cabernet and Merlot parcel came from Sunbury.
Ochre edges in the glass attract the eye, it starts off firm with a grip that draws you closer. Dark cherries and dark plums are the rage with dusty earth, a slight peppery spice and some suggestion of compote. It's a wine that certainly grew on me the longer it sat in the glass. Very clever.
