Clandestine Vineyards Chardonnay 2019

Vintner Nick Stacy describes his Chardonnay as, "Pure vineyard preservation married to integrated oak influences. Tidy gear this.

The fruit is sourced from the Margaret River region with some new oak used but mostly second and third use for eleven months. No lees stirring or MLF.

An oyster shell aromas gets me in the mood from the get-go. There's a herby thing sitting in the background. A generous squeeze of lemons and a little under ripe white fleshed nectarine. Oak has a subtle influence and is well handled. Fury peach skin feels push through the mouth but it seems a little linear. More relaxed on the second day of tasting, some time in the glass would help.

Drink to five years.
