Geoff Merrill Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

Life is made easy when you can buy a bottle off the shelf with some significant aging already under its belt. All that is required is for you to decant then sit back and enjoy. Lovers of 'old school' Cabernet wines will be rapt with this.

A blend of McLaren Vale and Coonawarra fruit (53/47), this wine came from the best barrel after it saw 36 months in American and French oak.

Sour plums, black fruits, cloves and cedar with touches of cigar box, dusty cocoa and dark chocolate add further pleasure. Not overly weighty or dense, powdery tannins drive long. Drinking well now, it will continue to age gracefully for up to eight years.

93/100

Region: McLaren Vale and Coonawarra
