Tim Smith Grenache 2016

Meet Tim Smith - and then get to know his wines. Meticulous, clever, freakin tasty gear from top to toe. Grenache from 80+ year-old vineyards made by a guy who knows his stuff.

I could see the bottom of this bottle with ease. And I did. I couldn't help but go back again and again. Superb drinking from a great Barossa Grenache vintage.

Take your pick at the basket of red fruit on offer - cranberry, strawberries, baked raspberry. Smith isn't hung up on the use of whole bunches 'like the cool kids' he tells me, though he said it's important to leave on skins without the bunches. Six days in this case.

This 2016 is a wine with less cherry and more structure. An attractive savoury drive is rounded off with a fine spice and dainty tannins which calls you back pleading for another sip. Super stuff and well worth tracking down.

Tim Smith's Bugalugs Grenache is also well worth checking out.

Drink now to eight years.
