Lowe Wines Organic Zinfandel 2013

Awarded the best Organic wine at the Mudgee Wine Show 2017. Zinfandel (also known as Primitivo) is big in the US.

Smaller bunches and smaller berries are the result of using a bonsai system bush vine alleviating super high alcohol that the variety is known for. This weighs in at 15.9% mind you.

Wild fermented from the wild yeast coming from the adjacent Shiraz vineyard (so I'm told), concrete fermenters lined with bees wax were plunged a few times a day. The finished wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered.

Scents of sweet plums and dried cranberries, canned plum juice brandy soaked Christmas cake and dried flowers. No doubt it is a big wine filling the mouth. A warmth rides the coat tails of the fruit. Prunes and raisins sit beside plums and blackcurrants. The finish is floury and dusty. Perhaps a wine not all red wine fans may gravitate to. Undoubtedly a wine which will age beyond a decade.
