Some wines are meant for drinking, not thinking. Slot this into that category. I reckon I could drink a gallon of this stuff. It's not sweet. It's not overly dry, but damn, gee it has delish factor written all over it.
You can blame Australia for making sparkling Shiraz a thing. Lots of folk can't stand it. Many more absolutely love it - I'm in the 'love it' crowd.
What makes sparkling Shiraz so superb is its versatility - have it as an aperitif, with food or even with dessert.
This dances across the mouth with absolute ease. Such an approachable wine, whiffs of cognac, coffee beans and baked cherry pie. It was liqueured with old Tawny and Tokay prior to being hand riddled and disgorged and spending 12 months on lees. Red fruits cut loose lassoed by fine spices which cling to a long and moreish finish. Oh, this is good!
