"Detail, precision and purity are the key themes driving this wine for us," says winemaker Matt Burton. A wine that delivers in style, behold a super Semillon release.
From Burton's prized Somerset Vineyard in Pokolbin planted in 1969, a decision was made to machine harvest for the first time. This proved to be a masterstroke - heatwave conditions over a few days in the lead-up caused a concern but a dramatic reduction by ten degrees at night made the case for machine harvesting a blessing.
Bursting with freshness and vitality, lemons and lemongrass run a flavoursome course through the mouth. Whiffs of white flowers and a lick of lime leaf adds further interest. Some tension evident, there's a captivating yet fine grip through the mid palate. The fruit and acid are beautifully balanced delivering a clean and crisp finish.
A kiss from the Semillon gods, pucker up!
