Why my favourite? Well, for a start, some effort has gone into the making of this wine. A little effort goes a long way with this variety. It doesn't taste like your 'normal' Sauv that's for sure. Handpicked, pressed to barrel and wild yeast fermented in one-year-old French oak. Some MLF, no fining, no racking, no additions other than sulphur. The result is magic.
Take a whiff and be consumed by candied and dehydrated pineapple, Turkish bread, matchsticks and flint. Textural feels through the mouth are absolutely captivating and indulgent. Soft white nectarine are juicy and licks of old-school homemade lemonade add pleasure furthermore. Delicate spice sweeps through late leaving a memorable parting shot. I could drink a bucket load of this - and that's saying something. To be critical of one thing, nowhere on the bottle is the variety mentioned. A curious decision.
All that aside, stand and applaud and charge your glass.
Drink now to three years.
