I dropped in last week to see winemaker Peter McGlashan. An all-round good bloke who bleeds for the region. Many of his ideas and initiatives have assisted to put a greater spotlight on the Granite Belt. Quite a humble gent too, he prefers his wines to do the talking.
Quality Viognier here. A generous and rich example. Orange marmalade, honeysuckle and canned apricot nectar emerge with a few swirls of the glass before meshing neatly with one another. Nicely balanced, the weight just gives this wine a 'feels good' nod of approval. Gingerbread spice purrs late on a balanced finish. Good stuff.
Drink now to five years.
