I received six wines celebrating the quality and versatility of Mudgee Cabernet Sauvignon recently from the ever diligent and parochial NSW wine marketer David Cumming from Define Wine. Robert Stein Winery is renowned for their Riesling.
Coming off 41-year-old vines, this is a leafy Cabernet. Black fruits and black currant look bright in the glass but it speaks with a monotone personality. Struggling to get out of first gear, a tight finish is garnished by aniseed and savoury spices. All up, it goes okay.
Drink now to six years.
