The vines contributing to this wine are celebrating 50 years in 2019. Chat to Tim Stevens about Mudgee Shiraz and you better get comfortable. A wealth of knowledge, his passion is captivating.
Stevens will tell you about "those Mudgee tannins" which he feels need a few years to calm down. Taste his wines young and you'll see what he means, hence wines are released with some bottle age.
Raspberries, berry coulis, flecks of cedar and touches of dried herbs get you in the mood. It's dark in the glass and generous to taste, dark plums, black fruits and dark chocolate wash through at ease. Time in the glass saw mocha reaching out too. There's a softness to the way it carries itself but a tension at the same time, and with a few more years in bottle, this will continue to morph into a beautiful wine.
