Vinomofo Homeless Grapes Project Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

This Cabernet screams out for sitting around big tables with good friends and large plates of food when the laughs come for free. Better still, ALL proceeds go to charity. Now that's a deal hard to ignore.

I spoke recently with some of the winemakers from Coonawarra who joined forces to bring this together. The six wineries involved were Raidis Estate, Hollick Estate, Patrick of Coonawarra, Redman Wines, Penley Estate and Jim Brand Wines. These good folk donated their time and each one generously donated one of their best barrels.

Furthermore, everything has been donated to get this off the ground - pickers, transport, artist work, labels, caps, bottles, packaging - all of it. Top that with every cent being sent to AC Care, a charity that seeks to enhance the wellbeing of rural people through positive social change, and the concept it a winner. AC Care was started by country people and now serves the Limestone Coast, Murraylands and Riverland communities in South Australia.

And the wine? Well it's delicious really. I can see why the winemakers were excited. Think roasted peppers, tomato paste and dried herbs aromas all wrestling for your attention before cassis and blackcurrants go to work. Dried oregano rides a long and moreish finish, but this is not about the wine is it? Open your wallet and buy some quality wine which all goes to a charity supporting those on the land doing it tough and you and those impacted both get that winning feeling. Give a little and get a lot back - great stuff and hefty applause to the Coonawarra crew.
