Boireann Winery Shiraz Viognier 2018

A gorgeous Granite Belt wine which glides through the mouth with ease.

This Shiraz Viognier is the flagship wine for Boireann. Brad Rowe is now at the helm with former owner and winemaker Peter Stark consulting and taking life a little easier after seeing out his final vintage in 2016.

Pretty aromas of dried red flower skip from the glass with white pepper in hot pursuit. The Viognier certainly adds some aromatic prettiness but it's well measured. Still a little firm to taste, these wines age beautifully and this release will be no different. The fruit drapes itself over the palate with ease with great depth from blue fruits and red plums with drying cocoa-like tannins. Over a couple of days of tasting, dashes of aniseed stepped forward and those blue fruits seemed to only dig deeper. Only young, it's best drinking is well ahead of it.
