There's some heft about this Oakridge Local Vineyard Series Hazeldine release.
In some respects, it reminds me of some Central Otago Pinots I was absorbed by during a recent trip to New Zealand's south island.
Dense plums and some dark berries casual waft from the glass before a glimpse of overripe strawberry appears with time in the glass. Blood orange and dried herb aromas add further appeal with an earthiness that runs deep. Dark cherry compote ticks away in the mouth. It's a Pinot to grasp with two hands, that's for sure. Still a bit firm, a little muscular perhaps, fine tannins roll out to a long and moreish finish. This will age nicely.
