The Fat n Skinny range from Hastwell and Lightfoot is all about producing medium bodied wines with approachability. This Picker's Choice is a blend of Shiraz, Tempranillo and Barbera with a dollop of their Rose to add softness.
A pretty handy barbecue wine here, that's for sure. I like the spice that laces the edge of the palate. It ticks away as smoked meat and generous dark berry fruit stroll about with ease. Having seen 12 months in a mix of American and French oak, there's good density and drive. Some dark chocolate arrives at the party late but its the spice that ticks away sealing the deal for me. Sausages, steaks, chops - this will be a great match.
