If steely, slatey Riesling and Soave found common ground in the King Valley, it might look a little like this Garganega from Pizzini.
From its northern Italian homeland, where most know the variety through Soave, this Pizzini release presents a bright, fresh and energetic expression. Cold-pressed apple juice, green apples and drops of lemon juice lead the charge, while a delicate drizzle of honey adds delight. Given a little time in the glass, a fine thread of ginger spice begins to emerge. What really started to spin my wheels is the riverstone minerality pinned firmly to its core and a zippy acidity keeps everything buoyant and vibrant. Perfect with fish and chips, though a bag of sea salt crisps wouldn't stand a chance.
