Slurp factor is high. Smokey, dense, alluring - I just want in. A great Barossa Valley Shiraz.
Wild yeast fermented, 12 days on skins, 23 months in oak (9% new - 3% American 6% French). The twelfth release of this wine.
I get a sense the spice cupboard has been opened up and tipped in here. There's so much going on from brown spices to baking spices and everything in between. Wafts of smokeyness, cured meats and pan juices are prominent. Dark berries and plums grasp at you with two hands with touches of cedar and Christmas cake pushing their cause late.
A few more swirls and a ball of fruit rolls around the mouth. Smooth and effortless, its quite consuming yet urges careful consideration. A ripper.
