Angullong Fossil Hill Riesling 2017

Only the third release of Riesling from Angullong. Despite the vines being in the dirt for 20 odd years, the fruit prior to these releases was sold off. The vines sit 650m above.

Curious aromas, this Riesling gives the sense it is older than 2017. The honey and kerosene tones age brings with it have already started to rear their head. There's are scents of preserved lemon too. It's quite docile to taste. It's a Riesling that doesn't express lemon and lime freshness which many would expect. There's a minerally push but the fruit never gets out of first gear. I almost feel like getting some mates around to give it a clutch start if you know what I mean.

I'd prefer others.
