Yarra Edge Single Vineyard Pinot Noir 2017

I love receiving emails from wineries I've never heard of. Viticulturalist Lucas Hoorn (formally Hoodles Creek and Levantine Hill) at Yarra Edge was kind enough to get in touch and send me his latest releases - and I like what I see. This Pinot is all grace and glamour.

Established in 1983, just under two acres are on site which is close planted with a northerly aspect. The wines are contract made by the talented Dylan McMahon.

Bright and inviting, red fruits and berries tap their feet to a neat beat. The word delicacy keeps screaming at me. A beautiful wine for Pinot purists.

Soft red cherries and strawberries are framed by delicate savoury characters - undergrowth plus super fine cinnamon and nutmeg spices slowly unfurling. The width and breadth delivered is on point. There's a faint apricot kernel touch too - nice! Big love for this and a neat find.

Drink now to eight years.
