Of the single vineyard wines in the Soul Growers range, give me this Gobell every time. It's a peach.
Planted in 1970, the smooth lines and curvaceous shape of the fruit is what captures my attention. Dense, dark and brooding, yet there's finesse and poise - damn it's good.
Dark chocolate, black plums, blueberries, and cedar all step up early. The depth seems endless with so much to sink your teeth into yet you're not knocked over the head with power. Baking spices wash through the mouth effortlessly with fine-grained tannins seated on a long, and what seems, a never-ending finish. Brilliant!
