Of the two single vineyard Chardonnays from Moorooduc Estate, I seemed to lean towards this beauty.
From sandy soils, the vineyard only sits 80m above. I had the opportunity to have a look at this recently at a wine dinner. Like the single vineyard Robinson Chardonnay, I wish I could have had longer to peruse this. It's a gem.
Opening with a savoury perfume, licks of earth and touches of spice lock the interest levels in from the outset. A seamless delivery is edged by an attractive cedary spice. Finely grated ginger tacks on to the pristine white stonefruit and a delicate lemon delivery. Sift a little deeper to be met by seaspray too. I just wanted more. Stunning!
