Off eight hectares in the Eden Valley, this is my first look at this Hill-Smith Estate wine. It's all about texture and body with 65% of the blend seeing 1-4 year old oak (5% was new) for five months.
It seems all a bit serious in some respects though - the furrowed brow type with the concentration face on. The textural presence through the mouth is hard to ignore covering the width and breadth with ease. Zesty with lemon rind and juice, some cut herb and white flowers all mingle with ease. The longer it sits the more confidence it grows. A fine spice rides on its coat tails and clutches to a long finish. A thinker's Sauvignon Blanc if there is such a thing.
