Schild Estate Narrow Road Shiraz Cabernet 2019

Australia's gift to wine blending is Shiraz and Cabernet. This second release of the Narrow Road is dangerously smooth with generous fruit. Drinking well now, it will continue to develop immeasurably.

As with the 2018, it is a 66/34 blend coming from the Narrow Road Vineyard that sits behind Rowland Flat and adjacent to the original Schild homestead that was settled by Ben and Alma Schild in 1952.

The fruit parcels were kept separate until blending and saw a combination of new and used French oak for 18-24 months. The finished wine spent further time in bottle prior to release.

Dark plums and blackberries are flanked by coffee cream and milk chocolate. Moreish with a seductive flow, it dries out slowly on close. And length! Seemingly endless, cocoa-like tannins build momentum through to the finish which rolls on and on leaving dark chocolate in its wake. An impressive wine with many years of fine form ahead.
