Robert Stein Half Dry Riesling 2017

Half Dry, Off Dry - same same but different. Riesling from Robert Stein is always top quality. This is no different.

Curiously five dollars cheaper than the 2016 vintage, this 2017 isn't in the same class as its predecessor by a whisker.

Limes and minerally characters leap out of the glass. Soft florals and tonic aromas too. The fruit seems a little monotone, however. Sure the green apple and lime juice kicks along and the 10 grams of residual sugar is well balanced, but if anything, the wine just clicks along at an even tempo without the X factor I was expecting. Clean and crisp to finish with a minerally and chalky finish, there's lots of easy drinking appeal here, no less, to match a range of foods.

Drink now to eight years.
