Tasted over lunch as part of the Hunter Valley Legends and Tourism Awards media famil, I was surrounded by wine royalty at the table. How could I not mention the huggable Winsor Dobbin to my left, Brian McGuigan to my right and the glamorous Cathy Gadd and Jane Thomson sitting opposite? This Chardonnay was pretty good too.
I fetched the image of the website but curiously only the 2016 is up for sale. We looked at the 2021. Perhaps they are held back deliberately? It sees 50% new French oak, it was the most aromartic of the seven wines tasted. Fruity, this carried a tropical vibe with green melons and yellow stonefruits flying the flag. I picked up dab of sweetness on close which pulled it back a couple of notches for mine. Mind you, it found a couple of admirers around the table.
Drink to five years.
