Soft and lacy, this Nebbiolo from the famed Pyrenees Malakoff vineyard is well worth a look. It's a disco for the senses. An excellent example of what modern Nebbiolo looks like, you can't help but feel upbeat in its presence.
Not only is the label eye-catching, but it's also great to see another small producer acknowledging the First Nations people on the label. In this case, the Jardwadjali people.
This is pretty as. Super attractive scents hook you in. And with that, I'd be happy just absorbing the aromas. Dried flowers, potpourri and dried strawberries swarm and delight. Lacy and delicate, there is a supreme approachability about this wine.
As I dive further, a cherry ripe factor emerges - red and dark cherries dipped in dark chocolate. Fine chalky tannins coat the palate but the juiciness of the fruit remains and reigns supreme. You get the sense the fruit was delicately handled and it comes through in the openness of the fruit and its superfine tannins.
In all, this is clever gear hands down with a mega slurp factor. An example that Nebbiolo does not need to be enjoyed with decent age on its side.
