Levantine Hill Colleen’s Paddock Pinot Noir 2017

Hold 'em back! Too many Australian Pinot Noirs are released too young. But isn't it great to see something hit the shelves with five years on it? What a precious gem this is. Boom!

Pinot releases from Central Otago with five+ years are common and I'd love to see wine lovers in Australia exposed to the pleasure factor Pinot Noir can deliver with a few years under its belt.

Red currants, sour cherry, bramble, dried leaves and twigs plus some soft spice for good measure. This is smart, a clever Pinot no doubt. That savoury factor slides through but doesn't scream for attention. You get a sense this is just nearing its peak due to its humble disposition. It's that sip slow material. That calming caress. Damn, it's delicious. Credit where it is due.

Drink to eight years+
