Zema Estate Saluti Cabernet Shiraz 2016

Celebrating 40 years, the Saluti has been released to commemorate the occasion. A 72/28 blend and coming from the best barrels, this is an excellent wine.

Joe Cory joined Zema Estate a few years ago and his first job was to bring this wine together. New eyes have shed some bright light on the Zema wines since his arrival.

There is plenty to admire here. Black and red fruits muse with prosciutto and a delicate savoury profile. Licorice and Dutch chocolate plus a hint of mintiness, dried sage and thyme all add layers of interest and keep the savoury profile rolling along with ease. A little Cherry Ripe appeal is evident too, the width and forever length are impressive. You get a sense the tannins are moving to the powdery sphere, something I welcome with open arms. Some meatiness looms up on close - that wrestle of excellent fruit and seductive savoury characters entices no end. Above all, it's just delicious. A fabulous wine.
