Bundalong Wines Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

What a find! I tasted this at the Coonawarra Roadshow and was instantly impressed. For $30, it is an insanely delicious Cabernet. Get around it.

Made by Pete Bissell (former Balnaves winemaker) who has since retired, more recent vintages have been made by Ox Hardy.

These vineyards are to the north of Coonawarra and some 15kms  off the main road but the roots are reaching deep in terra rossa soils.

Super fresh despite its five years, all the minty things reach out and seduce. Dangerously curvaceous black fruits plus a flash of vanilla, delicate spice muse and lace themselves around the mouth. Woah! Plush with a sneaky savoury veil, it lingers with an impressive moreishness. It will age comfortably beyond a decade and makes a neat cellaring proposition for not a lot of outlay. Big love for this.

Drink to ten years+
