A step back on previous vintages, this release seems to have crawled into its shell. I've come to expect this wine to be vibrant and enthusiastic but this 2017 feels sluggish and lethargic.
Black pepper with a minerally backbone the main players. Some dried pomegranate and currants. Drying, it saps moisture from the mouth more than I anticipated.
Drink now to five years.
