The Understudy. A cleverly named entry-level Cabernet Sauvignon for Pertaringa.
This is more of a ready-to-go now type. Generous dark fruits and berries rush through the mouth with the tiny addition of Petit Verdot and Malbec lending a hand. Although I had this pre-poured an hour before tasting (I seemingly got distracted with other tasks), it doesn't show too much aromatic expression. The fruit thins out on close but leaves a long spice trail with the mouth dried out from sapping tannins.
Drink to five years.
