Rockburn Pinot Noir 2019

Central Otago soils tell so many stories and each sub-region expresses itself beautifully. Gibbston, the first sub-region you hit heading out of Queenstown, is lean and skeletal. This is a fab drink with 15% of the fruit coming from that district. Big love for this Pinot.

The majority of the fruit comes from Parkburn (85%) just near Mt Pisa. The drive of this wine is superb. Its weight screams classic Pinot. Dark cherries, char, a suggestion of purple flowers and red apple too. A minerally touch sweeps under dark chocolate and delicately handled spice. Superfine with supple feels, it's drying to finish. The acidity has some life with a little lemony touch - you'd be forgiven for getting through this in quick time.

Drink to eight years.
