Wren Wines Grenache Shiraz Mourvedre 2019

Hilltops Grenache and Mourvedre meets Hunter Valley Shiraz in this spicy blend.

Quite a savoury wine, Chinese Five spice, earthiness and nutmeg reach out for your attention early. Spice is a feature here with lashings of cola. Acid has a presence early but this settles over a couple of days. More bottle age will see this relax furthermore too. Red plums and red berries waltz with cranberry fruit tucked in behind. Slices of red apple late on the first day of tasting but the finish was more earthy a couple of days on. Warming initially, things fused together quite well in the end. Barbecues would be a neat fit.

Above all, be patient and give it time. Cellar this for a couple of years or decant and give it a good shake or two to give it a kick along.
