Only produced in outstanding years, The Proprietor is a tribute to Shottesbrooke's history. A blend of Cabernet, Merlot and Malbec, it sees time in French and American oak.
This is a wine that is pretty heavy on the oak too. It is noticeable on the nose early and it stays the journey. Black fruits and cassis are on the hunt. Plentiful is the word I'd use to describe it best. Over a couple of days it softens. Tar, char, salt bush and sage all add interest. There is a bit of tension too. Long and drying, dusty tannins close things out. Be patient to see it as its best - be it in the cellar or in the decanter for a few hours.
