Dodgy Bros Juxtaposed Old Vine Grenache 2020

A release I always look forward to. Wes Pearson always produces great Grenache - this one is no different. The fruit source is the same as 2020 but he's moved away from his uber-cool street art labels to these very attractive labels by artist Adam Harriden.

Due to the third drought winter in a row, yields were tiny from the Blewitt Springs and Clarendon sites. I felt there was more density here than 2020. The previous was a little lighter and prettier. Smaller berries due to vintage conditions have brought greater fruit concentration.

Expressive as ever, think dried red flowers, potpourri, red apple skin, baked raspberries, cola, and blackberries. Plenty going on much? It's bright early on then gets in deep. Some earthiness skirts the palate with depth rippling through the middle. But that length! A textural presence not normally seen with this wine adds further interest with bright acidity delivering a red apple crunch. After tasting, I left the bottle on the bench for a few days. But here's the thing, give it some time. Several days on it softened beautifully. That bright acid had calmed and the fruit spoke proudly. Still so pretty and vivid, pomegranate and red cranberries moved in. A brilliant expression of Grenache. Go here.
