Iron Cloud Rock of Solitude Cabernet Malbec 2015

These Iron Cloud wines just turned up at the door one day. No note, not deets - pretty handy wines regardless and I'm pleased I've had the fortune of having a look at something new to me.

From the Ferguson Valley in South-West Western Australia comes this 70/30 blend. It's a powerful number yet one which has a soothing caress. Whiffs of choc mint, blueberries, plums and blackberries jump out. Some sweetish oak follows in hot pursuit with a few chips of dark chocolate for good measure. A hearty soul, there's a warmth to the delivery complemented by wood spices and earthy feels. Chalky tannins dry the mouth on a long finish. One of those comfort factor wines.

Drink now to six years.
