Oliver's Taranga DJ Cabernet 2014

A big Cabernet from McLaren Vale. Off old vines, it's dense (very dense) but I'm in two minds about it.

Another 24 hours on and I'm still not completely sold. Handfuls of dark fruit, sour berries, whiffs of caramel and sandalwood lob up. Fistfuls of power, it drinks okay but doesn't wow me - particularly for the price.

Quite top heavy, cassis and blackcurrant kick on with cloves on their tail. There's a dusty feel and unsettled red apple acidity which almost seems to stay longer than the invitation permits.

Some may disagree with me, and that's the beauty of wine.

87/100
