When Montalto is in your hand, be assured you are drinking very well. This Estate Pinot Noir is a ripper once again and oozes versatility.
Soon to be released, pardon the 2022 bottle shot. The Montalto website isn't up to date as yet.
Handpicked, 16% underwent carbonic maceration. It was lightly racked before being sent to French oak (28% new) for natural malolactic fermentation and saw 11 months maturation.
Dried red petals and baked berry aromas launch from the glass. Dark cherries, plum skins and dried strawberries fill the fruit profile and absorb the mouth. Savoury delights cascade with ease in the form of twigs, tilled earth, black tea, flickers of cardamom, sauteed mushrooms and a hint of cedar. Dense and firm initially, the interest continues to flow with roast meat jus and bone broth as fine spices shroud a lengthy and moreish finish capped off by powdery and brick dust tannins. There is a lot to embrace and even more to enjoy. An excellent Pinot!
