Concentrated, layered and devilishly moreish - this Montalto Estate Chardonnay is a fabulous drink to curl up to. Do you decant your whites? This is an excellent candidate to test that theory.
Whole bunch pressed, it went through wild yeast fermentation and was oxidatively handled throughout vinification with SO2 only added at bottling. Solids were used throughout fermentation and it went through malolactic fermentation before being sent to French oak (26% new) for 11 months.
Take a whiff and absorb barley, custard powder, ginger and cinnamon spices that roll out quite the welcome mat. Glace pineapple, green mango, melted butter and buttered toast with Portuguese tart cameo continue to build interest and detail. Hazelnut praline and flashes of Jersey caramel hitch a ride and add fabulously to this expressive Chardonnay. There is a concentration of white fleshed stonefruit with a delightful and mouthwatering grapefruit acidity spilling over that saturates delivering the moreish factor. What a delight! Sip slow and embrace. Superb drinking.
