That classic blend that Australians do all too well, this Huntington Estate Grand Reserve Shiraz Cabernet oozes delish and charm. Armed to live a long and cherished life, it is approachable now with a decant, but tuck it away and embrace its beauty down the track.
Pressed to American oak (25% new) where it spent 17 months, the fruit is the best from the Huntington Estate blocks planted in the 1960s.
A wine of serene presence and delicate complexity, this is melt in your mouth kind of stuff. Cherry Ripe steals the show. Lacey dark chocolate is framed by cedar and cloves. Time in the glass sees blackberries and canned plums rise up with some black olives and a fine feathering of earthiness. Sleek yet muscular tannins cruise about driving through to a most impressive finish that leaves a lasting impression. This is an excellent drink and one of the very best I have seen from Huntington Estate.
