A wine with great bones, the best barrels make it into Raidis Estate's flagship Cabernet.
It opens with a core of blackberries and blackcurrants with savoury nuances courtesy of cedar, tar and a flicker of tobacco. Some handbag leather points to its seven years of bottle age as an earthy undercurrent taps away. The frame and structure are in the arc of glory, but some warmth swoops in late and pegs it back from where it should be. Give some time in a decanter and it will open up bringing the layers of pleasure. Find the lamb and the rest will take care of itself. Nicely done.
