Boom! I reviewed this Shiraz eighteen months ago and it blew my mind. With the opportunity to revisit, this is incredible value. Hunt it down with gusto.
My thoughts from June 2024:
"A riot of blackberries, dark chocolate and black olives reach out for an embrace. Coffee grounds, mocha, licorice and chocolate-dipped raspberries build interest and an engaging momentum as fine spices frame the package beautifully. What stands out to me, however, is the dense and generous presentation yet there is an even tempo and fluidity. The 2022 label has been updated to represent a new shade of olive green that reflects the olive notes in this wine and a hallmark of O'Leary Walker Clare Valley Shiraz."
Little has changed. It's plush, silky and an extremely slurpable delight. Dark plums sit in the driver's seat with blackberries with more licorice showing its hand. Dark chocolate torte and some dark cherries and cherry ripe appeal. The development over eighteen months has been minor if at all, but I saw some flickers of char and charcoal this time in. It's hard to turn away from what is offered here, and not surprisingly, after a flight of samples, this is what I came back to. Winning!
