Silky with an impressive flow, this Wambuul Cabernet Sauvignon from Renzaglia completes a mighty fine suite of three wines in this range.
It's a wine that brings the feels and a homely touch, the type of wine you'd sit around a large table sharing with friends who laugh a lot and enjoy platefuls of food.
On opening, subtle mint notes mingle with a little beef stock. It thickens and deepens with time in the glass, and over three days, it demonstrates a delicious metamorphosis. Black cherries, black currant paste and festive Christmas cake flavours emerge. Initially, there was a milk chocolate creaminess sitting at the core, but that scaffolds a frame that later shows dark chocolate, olive tapenade and briary spice. A Cabernet with great reach through the palate, not to mention its harmonious feels, it's a great drink like its Shiraz sibling. Great stuff! Tip: decant for best results.
