Oakridge Meunier 2016

I'm late to the party here admittedly, but damn, I wanna stay all night. What a cracking piece of work this is! Brilliant Meunier!

You don't see much Pinot Meunier flying solo - it's generally blended away particularly in sparkling wines and used as the third main variety. But here, it stands proudly screaming from the top of its lungs.

With this 2018 release just around the corner, a cheeky bottle came with a sample of the new release 864 Funder and Diamond Chardonnay 2016. That's another wine that takes some beating but let's keep the focus on this Meunier for now...

Banging the slurp factor drum, this delish drop oozes savoury aromas and energetic fruit - think cherries, red currants and strawberries. Touches of smoke, clove, a dusting of pepper with well-shaped acidity knocking everything into place. But rather than over think it, you'd be better off over-pouring and just kicking back and embracing the beauty within. Run to this.

Drink now to five years.
