Clever Hunter Valley Shiraz. As per the back label, produced from vines grown at the Somerset, Tinkler's and Hillside vineyards. Maturation took place over nine months in French oak puncheons.
A beautifully medium-bodied wine which showed well, particularly on the second day of tasting.
Fistfuls of plums, blackberry and dark cherry fruit ride the soft waves of spice. Red earthiness so vivid in great Hunter Shiraz adds further interest as it taps its foot to a neat beat in the background. Tar comes to the fore with more time in the glass but it's those blackberries I keep coming back to. A great wine - Matt Burton is doing great things with his wines. Get on board.
