Pinot Noir from a relatively new region in New Zealand. Waitaki can be found in the North Otago area.
Of the two Kilted Pioneer Pinots, I do prefer this. There's a ten dollar difference but having tried the Gibbston Pinot, you'd be happy to pay the difference.
Blackcurrant, licorice, dark cherry fruit. An immense savoury drive leads to dusty tannins. I had this with pizza at the cellar door and it did the job well.
