It is never lost on me how privileged I am to look at so many wines from a broad and diverse range of producers. Then wines like this turn up - only 66 bottles produced. I held it aloft in two hands revering it just as it deserves. A superb Mencia.
The label states, "The start of something new. Special fruit. Gentle winemaking."
There's a graceful touch and elegant flow about this inaugural release. A wax seal adding to the prestige. Nine days on skins and short time in old oak help the fruit sing.
Enticing aromas from the outset draw you towards purple flowers and fine exotic spices. Some char and meatiness sit in the background letting cola, black earth, dried herbs and vibrant red fruits propel you to a higher place. Dusty feels to close, this is dripping in slurp factor and is hard to put down. The 66 bottles have already sold out, no surprises there, but get in the queue for the 2021 and pounce on release. A winner deluxe!
