There is so much interest to peruse with this wine. Not fined nor filtered, this Roussanne is from the Barossa's Yelland & Papps is in its raw form and generates maximum impact.
Easily one of the top producers of the variety in Australia, much thought and consideration goes into the making. On appearance, it is cloudy in the glass with a few floaties. Don't be bothered by that, nor the sediment in the bottle. Hand-harvested, basket-pressed, wild-fermented in barrel, unfiltered and unfined, some lees stirring and 9 months in gentle seasoned French oak barrel.
Wade through thrilling sensations of lemon peel and lemon sours, ruby grapefruit, and a touch of pineapple husk. Almonds and raw cashews add some nutty appeal with fine spices and a dash of ginger to close. Textural deluxe and long for days, this is a fabulous take on one of the Rhone greats.
