TarraWarra Estate K Block Merlot 2018

One of those wines you can sit on for a while. This is a pleasant and enjoyable Yarra Valley Merlot that will please those looking for a soothing drink.

Interestingly, it appears that the bottle spent its time in storage upside down given there is significant sediment around the neck. Not that this will change the wine overly but it may not present well for some punters out there I suspect.

Generous plum and drunken cherries, blackberries and chocolate work alongside dried herbs to deliver a well-weighted, medium-bodied wine. Oak plays a fair hand here, possibly a little too much for those who shy away from it which is all quite curious given it only saw 20% new. You certainly get the impression is was a bit more than that. Back to the wine and a plentiful dose of plums, dried herbs and spice shoulder their way back into the frame on close for a persistent finish. A roast or even the humble bowl of spaghetti bolognese will sit well beside this. Good gear all up.
